We offer a variety of flexible accommodation options for hostel travelers, couples, families and groups in a classic European-style hotel/hostel.
You will experience great hospitality and spotlessly clean comfort at an affordable price while meeting like-minded people from the region and around the world.
Our downtown, award-winning Guesthouse opened in 2004 in a heritage building on the quaint streets of Nanaimo, surrounded by alfresco cafes, shops, and galleries & 1 block from the ocean.

We are the only Nanaimo hotel/hostel accommodation that offers a full self-catering kitchen for travellers and large groups (maximum of 60 people).
Free wireless access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Lounge with fireplace, guitar, foosball table and other games, small meeting area, computer kiosk nook, newspapers and current reading resources.
FREE day storage for luggage, bicycles, snowboards/skis, diving gear; and vending machines for toiletries and snacks. Our reception conveniently sells laundry soap, coffee & tea, phone cards.

Our Nanaimo guesthouse is located in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance to the famous harbourfront walkway, tourist attractions, boutique stores, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and the Port Place Shopping Centre.
We are only one block from the Coast Bastion Hotel, the Best Western Dorchester Hotel and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
Bus terminal: 10 min walk, 2 min drive, Ferry terminals: 6 min drive.
Seaplane terminals: 1 block, Oceanfront sea walk walkway 1 block.

Our building may be a 1913 heritage building, but the rooms are simple, fresh, and with lots of character. The Guesthouse is well-appointed, is a BC Approved Accommodation and has received has achieved the highest possible standard.

No persons over the age of 40 can rent a mixed dorm, but they are welcome to be accommodated in the male or female-only dorms

Close to downtown nice kitchen and facilities easy to find
The Painted Turtle was an amazing hostel. One of my favourite. All the staff were super friendly but Katryne and Amy in particular were really helpful and great to hang out with. The hostel is always clean. Nice kitchen. Really social in the 'great room'. Highly recommend the Painted Turtle :)
Location, friendly/helpful staff.
The location was awesome... super close to downtown, the old city quarter, and the sea wall. Sabrina at the front desk was super helpful and friendly.
I liked the big community room!
