Gaslamp Hostel is owned and managed by backpackers who love what hostelling is all about and believe in its mission to bring people together from diverse backgrounds to celebrate their uniqueness and similarities, provide a secure and clean backdrop for their stay and enthuse about the fun and quirky of San Diego.
Located right in the centre of the Gaslamp Quarter, we're the most convenient location to visit all the sights, restaurants, breweries and shopping visitors crave.
A continental breakfast is available each morning.

For breakfast, we offer cereal with milk, oatmeal, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
We also have a fully stocked kitchen, so if you'd like to make your own meals, we have the cookware and plenty of condiments/spices.
The hostel has all-gender toilets and showers facilities in the hallways, each with a locking door. There are no rooms with bathrooms in the room.

The hostel also has a reputation for being haunted. There are several rooms and areas guests and staff have claimed to have had an 'experience' or a ghostly sighting!

Security and safety
SMOKING – California law prohibits smoking/vaping in the building and within 25 feet of the entrance. There's a $200 fine for smoking in the building along with immediate expulsion without refund.

*Gaslamp Hostel welcomes responsible guests from everywhere outside of the San Diego area. Guests under 16 are not allowed without prior management approval. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
* We have a 14-day stay limit in a 6-month period, with some exceptions for students.
* We require guests to present their own valid, government-issued photo ID and a valid credit card in their name (not debit card). For waiver of this policy contact management
* At least one of the guests checking in must be the person who made/guaranteed the reservation.
* All guests must sign our registration form and liability waiver.
