Hostel
Welcome to The Sandino Community!
Not your typical hostel, Sandino is an eco-friendly Backpacker's Retreat imbued with a unique, community spirit.
We welcome lovely individuals who are kind, open-minded and embrace the concept of community.
We offer a great atmosphere for single travellers to meet and socialise, and we welcome people of all sexual orientations.
A luscious green oasis in the heart of Berlin, we are not your generic mainstream hostel.
Social and fun
We offer campfires most nights, and there are BBQs available to lend. Occasionally we will host BBQ dinners. We have table tennis available in the courtyard, or you can just enjoy soaking up the sun in the courtyard or backyard. We offer spacious outdoor areas; a beautiful sunny courtyard surrounded by flowers and vegetation, and a grassy backyard camping area with a perimeter of shady trees, an apple tree, and shared with a few friendly pet rescue chickens living out a life of leisure!

Otoczenie.
We are located in East Berlin, a 15-20 minute Tram ride from Alexanderplatz, which is the city center. We are a short walk away from the historical Stasi Prison and a 30 minute walk or 10 minute transit ride away from Weissensee, a popular lake and park for swimming in the summertime. We are also a short walk to several other small lakes and parks. The nearest supermarket is a 5-7 minute walk away.

Good to know
Once an abandoned building, Sandino has been refitted by hand by the owner Michael. Now a cosy eco-friendly place. Our decor and furniture are mainly made from repurposed/recycled items, imparting our indoor spaces with a cosy, rustic charm. We harvest rainwater for our garden and mostly utilise environmentally friendly cleaning products, as we aspire to continue to be more planet friendly. Sandino is open from the last weekend in April until the last weekend in September. We close for Winter

In times of uncertainty and your peace of mind, we recommend you select a flexible rate with free cancellation. If your plans change, you can always cancel free of charge until the cancellation expires.
We are not a hotel or your generic mainstream hostel. Our facilities are communal, and as we are seasonal we do not provide indoor heating. Please read our full description before booking to ensure we are the right fit for you.
